Local reactions

Two moments are allowed to interrupt.

Opt-in connections normalize local events first, so the pet can react without waiting for a cloud round trip.

When an agent finishes

A short celebration, then back to calm.

A completion event plays a one-time motion and a brief line. If notifications are enabled, WhalePet can tell you the turn is ready to review.

When an agent needs you

The whale surfaces for a decision.

An approval or input request triggers alert motion and moves to the top of the panel. It stays visible because the next step belongs to you.

It lives beside the editor.

The transparent pet floats above windows without taking focus. It is an app surface you can actually touch.

Move it
Drag it into place, flick it across the screen, or resize it with the scroll wheel.
Touch it
Click to pet it. Right-click to feed it, play an available action, switch persona, resize, or hide it.
Leave it
It follows every Space, keeps a restrained idle loop, and does not steal the active app.
Care shapes mood. Coding does not.

Petting, feeding, and cloud chat change the pet's needs and bond. Your token burn never makes it starve.

Open the panel when you want the numbers.

Chat, monitor, and pet care stay in separate tabs instead of one noisy dashboard.

  1. Chat

    Signed-in cloud conversation, streaming replies, and its own daily quota.

  2. Monitor

    Recent completions and confirmations, plus per-source 5-hour and weekly usage. Official percentages, estimates, and local totals stay labeled separately.

  3. Pet

    Belly, energy, affinity, and bond, plus persona selection and desktop-pet controls.

Recent-session scanning is optional and off by default. It is a local heuristic, not an official running-state feed.

Start with the whale. Build another pet later.

The blue whale ships with the app. Installing and using the local desktop pet does not require an account.

The Custom Pet Studio comes later: sign in, upload a reference photo, then describe the look and personality through a multi-turn conversation. It generates a restyled subject and action frames, with a path to refill missing animations.

If you do not name a visual style, it follows the reference image. It does not add a cute mascot template you never asked for.

Cloud chat and custom generation are login-gated, access-controlled, and quota-limited.

Put the whale on your desk.

Cloud features wait until you choose them.
